The ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Interior were awarded by theGerman Design Council on Sunday 13 January at imm cologne. The best entries from all areas of interior design were honoured. Amongst the prize winners was the innovative fabric Article 160 by drapilux, which demonstrates the great art of dobby weaving. The independent, specialist jury also appreciated this, and therefore awarded the fabric the title of “winner”.
In dobby weaving, lots of warp yarns are raised and lowered by a shaft, thereby creating the shed. "The skilful use of feed and impact cartridge, the unusual melange yarn and a harmonious, yet accentuated choice of colour make this decorative fabric so unique," said designer Kirstin Herrmann. The flame-retardant fabric has additional benefits thanks to its air-purifying function drapilux air, which means it is ideal for curtains and bedspreads in hotels and care facilities.
The wool look is created by using an exclusive Trevira CS yarn featuring a colour-fast cross-dyeing black component in the thread. The colours are rich and natural at the same time: all three colourways have a stripe in the linen-like area between the coloured sections.
drapilux Article 160 can be seen together with the other prize winners from 14.-20.01.2019 at the Cologne Art Association.
