The winners of the German Innovation Award were honoured for the first time yesterday evening, 6 June 2018, during a celebratory gala at the German Museum of Technology in Berlin. More than 250 guests from industry, politics and the media accepted the exclusive invitation. Amongst the winners was drapilux, a brand of the textile company, Schmitz Textiles, based in Emsdetten. The German Innovation Award was presented with a “Gold” distinction to the innovative article “drapilux 218 Trevira CS dim-out” in the prize category “Excellence in Business to Consumer (B2C)” in the “Interior & Living” segment. The award was accepted by Kirstin Herrmann, head of the design studio, and marketing director Markus Overbeck.
drapilux 218 has challenged the status quo when it comes to dim-out fabrics: the flame-retardant, pure white Trevira CS dim-out base fabric makes it possible to personally design dim-outs according to customer wishes. A company logo or colour scheme can be applied to the white base fabric using transfer printing and is the perfect addition to interior design plans. Dim-outs are essentially decorative fabrics with exceptional light-blocking properties. Whilst conventional dim-outs are often only available in silver or grey, drapilux 218 has now opened the floodgates when it comes to design with this type of textile.
„The pure white drapilux 218 Trevira CS dim-out increases the possibilities for designers and interior decorators immensely. A fantastic product, which also meets the requirements when it comes to fire protection”
was the reasoning behind the judging panel’s decision.
“We are delighted that drapilux has now proceeded to win the German Innovation Award with a “Gold” distinction after the 2018 German Design Award”, said drapilux designer Kirstin Herrmann. This recognition shows that drapilux excels when it comes to design as well as functionality.
The German Innovation Award honours products and solutions positioned across all sectors, which mainly differ with regards to user focus and added value compared to their predecessors. 650 submissions were entered for the award, ranging from industry giants to dark horses and start-ups.
drapilux has also been nominated for the German Brand Award in the Interior & Living category. It will be revealed on 22 June 2018 whether the Emsdetten-based brand will come home with a hat trick
